86 F150 Clutch Slave Cylinder Replacement

Just picked up a 86 f150 and second day driving it the clutch slave cylinder went out. Never had to replace one of these before and just looking for a little guidance. Any help would be great. Thanks. If anyone knows of an online instruction for this replacement that would be nice as well.

I love this truck and want to get it up and running ASAP.

edit: it is a 4x4 4speed with the 302 in it. The slave cylinder is external

thanks!

Pry the old on off the bellhousing, and bring it out under the truck so you can work on it. I have never had to take the line off yet, but I believe someone said there is a keeper pin that holds the line in place, and it has to be driven out.

Once you get the new one on, I would look for a bleeder. Some are obvious, and some are a 5/32 allen screw hiding on the slave. Open the bleeder and see if you can get some air out of it. Not all the air will come out though. Re-install it, and then push on the clutch pedal to break the wire tye holders that came on it. Keep an eye on the clutch master fluid level. Pump it a few times and see if you can get the tranny in gear. If you can force it in gear, drive it around, and as you drive it, the air that's left in the system will make it's way up the line and into the master reservoir.
