How high is your 302?

Can someone give me some placement specs on your 302 engine as mounted in a 48-52 F-1? What I need is a reference point with respect to either the center of the fan pulley, crank pulley, or some other common point from either the frame or front crossmember. I think I mounted mine too low and that I may need to raise it about an inch or so. As pointed out in another thread, I'm having a problem getting a lower hose to the radiator without it being chopped off by the fan...

I could use a smaller diameter fan but I hesitate to do that and then set myself up for cooling problems!

Sounds like your 302 is in the right spot, I threw away the fan and installed a electric pusher fan in front of the radiator. I still had a problem with the lower hose being rubbed by the power steering belts, solved that with two hoses with a chrome kithen sink trap installed in the middle.( cut the trap to the length you need for the correct angle)

I'm not crazy about electric fans but I guess I should consider one. Thanks for the suggestion guys. It might be easier to do that than re-mount the engine...

You could try a 7 blade fan out of a T-bird - I think mine is only 17" and it cools the big 390 just fine!

Have you thought about the flexi metal hose kits? They are ribbed moldable metal and you can shape them so they clear fans etc. Might solve your problem.
