Are there any engines that would be a direct swap for my 292 that will bolt to my NP 5 Speed trans? It seems like I read somewhere that FE engines will bolt up.

 

I have a 57F600 with a 390FE and 5spd. You will need a bell housing from a later F series that had a FT so that the rear mounts will fit. Front mount from a 330MD will work with a little modification to the truck mount. I used a neutral balenced flywheel from a 330MD the HD style flywheels have a balence weight. You can use a flywheel from a pickup ,just be sure that you flywheel and starter are compatable , the old style starter uses a different tooth count than the later ones. Your radiator will work fine. Iused headers from a later 2WD pickup. The hydralic clutch slave bolts up OK. If you have any questions let me know.
