Question with Magnaflow exhaust sound...

I just purchased a 2010 F250 quadcab with the 6.8l V10...I put a magnaflow exhaust system on it yesterday and Im a little disappointed with the sound. Ive always had half ton trucks with v8s and a magnaflow and loved the aggressive rumble they made. With the magnaflow on the v10 it doesnt sound deep or aggressive at all. Tomorrow Im taking it back to get the resonator in the rear taken off. Does anybody know what that will do, and does anybody have any other suggestions on how I can achieve more of the v8 rumble that im looking for.
Thank You,
Mike

The odd firing order of the V10 will never get you that "V8 rumble" you're looking for,so save your money and the wasted time and aggravation in trying to get it.
If you want loud droning racket-remove all of the resonators, etc and leave that Magnaflow on there for around 10K miles. When it loosens up-you'll start having a love-hate relationship with it.
What did you do with the stock exhaust/muffler?

It's not an "odd firing order" - it's bank-to-bank, and very "even fire".

The problem is the overlap between the exhaust valve openings. Not enough dead-time between exhaust pulses so you can that "scratchy" sound. At least, that's what I call it

I think some of your problem too is the 3V. Many moons ago Capt Chas went looking for that sounds on his 3V and went back to stock. I have the Magnaflow cat back on mine and like it.

Been researching different exhaust for my truck and came across this one. If OP is around yet would like to know if it did break in and sound better? Any other input about Magnaflow would be appreciate. Like it because it's Stainless. Thanks

Talking

I have a 03 with Thorley headers and a Flowmaster 70 catback and it sounds good. Just a little louder than stock, and no cackle when you let off... I hate that popping like a old grain truck that needs exhaust...
Its not stainless, but its 3 year warranty, and a whole lot cheaper...

Anybody have the part number for just the muffler, none of the websites tell just that. Dimensions would maybe work too. My stock exhaust is good, just want different sound. How many miles on muffler and how do you like the sound? Thanks

Look at a chambered muffler. The best sounding v10s I have heard have a flowmaster or cherry bomb that have chambers. I don't know this but I think the way the exhaust has to react in the chambers takes the higher pitched rasp out of the exhaust.

The guy I bought my '99 from put a cat back 3" with a magnaflow bullet looking muffler on it. I love it! At an idle it's nothing spetaclur, but up around 2800-3000 rpm it sings, sounds funny, but it sings. Mine is a 5 speed so i can literally just drive it the way I want it to sound. Best thing is freeway drivin it stays just under the drone tone at 75 mph. Love that Magnaflow.
