One model year too early, but I'm building a commercial woodie from a half ton pickup. It won't be just like a regular '47 woodie made by ford, but rather the type of heavier woodie built by aftermarket companies, large and small when a hotel or other business need a 'station wagon' with a bit more capacity. As a bonus, it frees me up from the purists who might say something like "That joint at the header isn't how Henry did it". Planning to get another day in on it tomorrow with the holiday! The first pic is showing ow it looks today, then I threw in a couple more of how it started out. Anyhow, happy new year to ALL Ford Truck Enthusiasts, be it a Model T, a '79 4x4 or an ecoboost f150. !

That looks great, Canadian! I live in Medicine Hat, probably not too far from you. I hope to get going on my 1951 F3 soon. Hopefully our paths will cross sometime. Thanks for posting this. Keep the pics coming!

Very cool one ton. What are those 17" tires? They look different than the ones we can get in the states. I have a growing collection of 7.50 17s for my tonners, but never enough solid ones..

I got a long ways to go on my poor boy 49 build. Got the front end off a couple weeks ago and I got the bed off yesterday. Swap out the 9" rearend from my 70 f100 donor yesterday too. I noticed I had 3 broke leaf springs on the very bottom of the springs on the passenger side rear that I will have to replace. Other than that the old truck is cleaning up pretty good.

Looks great GB, nice work!! I did one years ago out of a 40 Chevy 4dr sedan for a client and yes those "purists" can be really crazy.

John, mortise and tenon on most. The large joint at the rear curve is a large lap joint involving 3 layers. Light color wood is Ash, roof slats are basswood, and the panels mahogany. I am still thinking about cutting up my 52 and making it a woodie...

If I remember correctly the one you pictured was lost in a fire wasn't it? You must have done a fair amount of steam work too around that rear fender. The car in the top picture, is that the car you used or just a pic of what the car that was used looked like?
