Minimum Lift for '99 F250 Super duty to fit 37 inch tires
#18
First of all thank you RentAMan, in both of my threads you have given me a lot of very helpful advice. I'm only in to this project two hundred dollars, i could have gotten these tires and a lift to triple the money that i have in it just to get something that drives and handles like a complete POS. Ill post the rims on craigslist and try to get some of my money back out of this. Thanks again for saving me a lot of grief and some money too.

Hey cowboyup the 37's (355/65/18) will barely clear if it is a mild mannered a/t like the Toyo's. You will still need a little trimming and they will still hit during articulation if you 'wheel the truck hard. The 36 x 15.50's are too wide, they will hit the lower part of the front bumper, the lower rear corner of the fender, and the leaf spring when turning and under full lock, respectively. Be aware of the brand of leafs, the cheap ones sag over time and decrease tire clearance.

One of the guys that I wor with has about 50k on the military tires on his Excursion. He loves them. He rotates them on a regular basis and has no problem going in sand and mud. Does very well on the road.
I've got a set of 16.5's as well that I got from a guy for $75 for the set of 4 that ran PJ 38's on them. I now know why they were so cheap. I'm trading thm to a guy for a set of 18's. He's putting a set of BFG AT's in 33s for when he goes on long road trips to replace his 38s that he normally runs. Going to see if dropping wheel and tire weight, combined with the vehicle drop will improve the mileage. Plus saves his softer, more aggressive tires.
If you want the big tires, go for it. They're cheap, but the lift needed may not make them so cheap.
Anyone try prerunner fenders to fit 37s? If so, what results?

Josh,
Are the rims from a HMMWV? The 16.5" beadlock wheels? Are they the 8 bolt together or 12? Have they been re-centered to fit the 99 up Ford 8X170 lugs? If so I might take them of your hands. Let me know.
Louie
Just re-read the thread and with all the talk of military Goodyear 37" tires I thought you had the 16.5 HMMWV wheels. If not, never mind....

BFG sells all-terrain KOs for the 16.5 rim
my last set was the 37 military tire, they are tough as all get out, kinda heavy, but if you get em balanced they arent bad at all. My driving is mostly city-highway between working and driving to school 4 hours away
the difference is the 37 is a radial while the old 36 is a bias ply

Louie,
No, they are not the hummer wheels, they are aluminum rims with the bolt pattern of the 99 and up super duty. If you want them i'd give em to you for $150 plus you pay for shipping. they are in pretty decent condition. i live in central wisconsin so if anybody wants them give me a call at 715-506-1910 i can send you pictures of them if you are interested.

I havent figured it all out yet either. Everything under my truck looks factory. I have 35's on it now, and they dont touch anything. The closest thing they are to is the lower valiance, but they have never touched anywhere.
But everytime i see a post like this, everyone says you need all this lift to fit tires of any size.
They are about worn out. So I want to go with 37's on 18" rims. Maybe some bushwackers. but if i go with them, I would have to mod them, as I dont care for the square look they ive the rear wheel opening.
