Just bought a '99 F250.. have some issues

hoping you guys can help.

I just picked up a '99 F250 2WD 7.3 PSD, auto trans.
Has an edge power programmer (older one I think?), muffler delete, and an intake.
315,000 miles.
I drive it in "milage" mode 99% of the time and "xtreme" the other 1%. no idea how much power it makes but it seems really fast for a giant truck. Much better than the '79 F100 I'm upgrading from. Really good on fuel too - 20+MPG I think. I got it to be a newer, more reliable tow vehicle for my race car. Might end up driving it daily from time to time as well since it's so good on fuel.

Anyways it won't cold start without being plugged in, I'm guessing that this is a glowplug issue? Once (when it was really cold and windy) it was difficult to start even after it had been plugged in for several hours.

The transmission "overdrive" button on the stick blinks when the truck is sitting still, but doesn't when I'm moving.

A friend of mine has a code reader and we got the following codes from it:

P1209
P0478
P0470
P1211
P0705
the check engine light isn't lit though - it does come on at startup so I know the bulb isn't burnt out.

Any help would be appreciated!

Hard cold starts is either the glow plugs, the relay that controls them, or the wiring for them. Glow plugs aren't all that bad to replace, getting to them is the worst part of the job (they are under the valve covers). Most guys upgrade the relay with a big skookum unit from Stancor for greater reliability.
Flashing O/D light usually means there is a trans problem, but since yours turns off I'm guessing the wires that go to the switch have been damaged. They are very thin and prone to breaking, but they can be repaired.

1209 Injector Control Pressure Peak Delta Test Fault
1211 Injector Control Pressure Above/Below Desired = Probly from the programmer

Any of these important? Truck seems to run fine... but if any of them are pressing issues or will improve drivability/mpg I'll fix 'em.

As far as the glowplug relay goes, any way to test it? Where do I get the better "upgraded" one?
