62 Ranchero no spark

Hey there new to the forum.
Have a 62 Rnchero 170 6 cyl. Started running like crap and then changed cap, rotor, plugs, wires and points. NOw there is no spark. Leaning towards balast resistor wire or coil. Have not gotten there yet. Also if anyone has specs ie; point gap, timing thanks in advance.

No ballast resistors in these cars.

As you suggest, it might be a bad coil. Aftermarket coils are cheap.

Point gap is 0.024"-0.028"

Timing is 6* BTDC for the stick, 12* for the auto.

The wires going to and at the coil are notoriously crappy, I would take a close look at them.

Have your wife hold the coil wire in one hand and to hold onto the negative battery terminal with the other. then crank it over. If she says she wants a divorce, your coil is good,
Sorry I couldn't resist. The other guys have given some good advice. Where did you buy your parts? I have bought ignition parts from advance before and had the rub block on the points fall off. Which caused a backfire that blew my muffler apart. Only buy my points from NAPA since

Almost forgot, if the problem isn't solved yet, change the condensor.

Ya took care of it last Saturday. It was the balast wire. Ignition to the coil. Adjusted points and timing and all is good.
Thanks,
Rob
