Headliner

Headliner
Has anyone tried removing the headliner board out of a crew cab powerstoke?. Do the seats have to come out. I am looking at replacing the headliner material and before I started I wanted to see if this can be removed with taking out the seats? It does not look like you can remove it without taking something out first. Anybody have experience in taking out the board? I have a 4 door crewcab. Thanks in advance. maxx

Good thought on the seats but I think that the install on the CC Trucks was through the rear window. I think that you can remove the visors and the lamp and then loosen up the trim in the back and pull the trim thats easy to remove i.e. from the front glass trim.
If you pulled the seats then it would still hit trying to come out the door. Then when you went back in it would bend and may cause all of your hard work to start getting loose again. I think I would see if there is a glass place that would do the whole job or see if they would pull the window and let you remove the liner and recover it yourself and return and let them reset the window.
Good Q for thought.
Thanks

I recovered my headliner last summer. Mine is also a crew cab. I removed the rear bench seat. I have Super Duty buckets in the front, so I was able to leave them in since they fold forward/backward enough. If I still had the front bench I'd probably just take that out since it's only 4 bolts. Be careful around the sun visors in the front corners, the headliner backing is pretty flimsy in that area and easy to tear if not torn already. I think the rear window would be a lot easier than getting it out a rear door but I was afraid I'd open a can of worms with leaks if I did that.

When Ford built them they went in through the windshield opening before the windshield & steering wheel. That's what my glass guy told me once. The back window opening isn't quite wide enough to fit out the back w/o deforming the headliner. We used to pull both front & rear seats on crew cabs and dropped it out the passenger door (back I think, been a few yrs.). Reg & Ext cabs pull ft seat & push out pass side.
