3.0 Vulcan, finding Cyl #1 TDC - the EZ way
In a 1998 Windstar (FWD), bank one (cyl #1, 2, 3) sits behind (closer to the firewall, i.e. a ROYAL pain) while bank two (cyl #4, 5, 6) is WIDE open, it is much, much easier to get to the spark plugs of this bank of cylinders.
Knowing that the firing order of the 3.0 Vulcan is 1-4-2-5-3-6, would someone with a spare/removed engine (not in vehicle) please turn the crank pulley to confirm that:
When cylinder #1 is at TDC, at the end of the compression stroke, with intake & exhaust valves closed, the other cylinders on bank two:
1) cylinder #4 is at BDC, at the end of the intake stroke, with intake & exhaust valves closed (intake just closed).
2) cylinder #5 is at BDC, at the end of the power stroke, with intake & exhaust valves closed (exhaust about to open).
3) cylinder #6 is at BDC, at the end of the intake stroke, with intake & exhaust valves closed (intake just closed).
