Will this hold???

Ok so down here in southeast texas, all the Ford places are completely out of the fuel/water seperator drain valves. The whole valve in my opinion is a junk design, but as for right now i have covered the valve with gasket maker gunk and i slapped a peice of gasket material over that to connect to the fuel canister. Will this hold until Feb. 1 or is there something else i can do that is better? Thanks for any suggestions and opinions.

If you have the gasket between the fuel valve and the fuel bowl that should work. A Curtis

I wish i was better with ordering stuff over the internet but im still leary about it.

I was thinkin for tonight to cut out a peice of plate and template the holes on it and drill em and put a peice of gasket on it instead of using the plastic drain valve, i put 108 miles a day on my truck just goin back and forth to work so i just need something to tide me over for 3 weeks that will stop the fuel from draining.

Here's Bob's Site: Replacement O-rings for Ford Diesel Engines

You should have absolutely no worries about ordering stuff from him. Or just give him a call.

Don't think you will be able to tighten the screws up enough to seal a gasket. It is a plastic housing that is easy to crack. Even with o-rings, you don't want to tighten very much. Bob will get them to you in a day or two, three tops. Link in my sig and you can probably just call him. His number is listed on his site.

yall really dont think the plate to block the whole thing off will work until ford gets a new stock of the valves? I changed my fuel filter 2 weeks ago so i wont need to get in it for another 10,000 miles.

Do as you need to do.I know you need the truck.Replacing the drain valve is a easy job.You do not have to remove the fuel filter.Just drain the bowl and then change out the drain valve if you buy the whole assembly. That is what I did because I figurred it was time for a new one.I kept the other for a spare.....Most on here just change the o-rings which is fine to.

Definitely call Bob. You can't beat his prices and he is a really nice guy. He's got just about any o-ring you need! I've ordered from him several times and I will again the moment there's a wet drop on my driveway...
