Can a blown belt ruin an alternator?
#16
Gentle men thank you for your replies. To answer some of the questions raised, I have only seen burnt rubber on the outside of the Alternator. I was worried about the belt debris going into the alternator itself.
I have to admit that I did not think of the Alternator as a cause of the belt going south. Although I do not hear any noise from the bearing at this point, I better check it any way.
I can not tell you why the belt went at all, other than the truck was off the road for about 2 years and it went bad. I did check for cracks and nicks in it before I ran the engine with it though. Thanks Again for helping this newbie.
