Thanks everyone!
Well, We (tiny terror and I) acquired The 65 through a trade for an old Jeep I had.
I'm not new to old Fords. Heck, at one point or another, I've had old Fords since I was old enough to drive and that's been 25 years. My first was a '64 Fairlane 500 which led me to buy a 63 Meteor and so on and so forth. The hobby has snowballed. I will admit though, aside from a 56 F100 my dad had, I really had no dealings with older Ford trucks.
Before we got the truck I had been content working on my 64 Fairlane 500 Ranch Wagon which remains unrestored in the garage. The truck was a really nice surprise and a welcome addition to our family. My focus shifted and I began working on the truck. What was only supposed to be a decent daily driver / parts runner had turned into the main focus around here. She's a bit temperamental and demands I work on her. I'm a medically retired Army Combat Medic so I have nothing but time to invest.
OK, enough about me... Let's talk about Grace. She is an F250 built in San Jose CA on June 1965. She's a Custom Cab however, at some point in her life someone removed her badges and bondo'd over the holes on the door. I think it was in order to mount west coast style mirrors. She has a 352 with a T18 and a Dana 60 out back. I'm not sure about the front end. I'm thinking she may have been wrecked and had all the front sheet metal replaced. Under the hood and on top of the inner fenders there is what looks like CalTrans orange paint on one front fender and a metallic green color on the other. Thus the 66 grille. I'm trying to find some steel rims for her. I'm not really pleased with the 16.5x10 wagon wheels on her. I was able to camouflage them with strategically placed Fairlane hubcaps. The rear tires are 33x12.5-16.5's and the fronts are 8.75x16.5's I kinda like the rake it gives the truck and the semi hot rod look she has. But, I would really rather have stock rims and hubcaps. The wife (tiny terror) sewed up a really nice set of upholstery for the front seat. We refoamed the old frame and I can't remember ever setting on a more comfortable vehicle seat. It's like a couch. I fabricated a new headliner from shower enclosure sheeting. Other than that, she's still a work in progress. We love her!

In September 1965, Ford OBSOLETED the 1965 grilles, replaced them with the 1966 grilles for use as service part replacements (parts sold at the parts counter).
And...in September 1966, Ford OBSOLETED the 1964/66 F100/250 2WD (& 1966 F100 4WD) Styleside tailgate, replaced it with the 1967 (1967/72) Styleside tailgate for use as service part replacements.
These are the reasons that 1965 grilles and these particular 1964/66 Styleside tailgates are very hard to find today...especially in decent condition.
