No heater (blower) and Airbag light on dash...
Here's a curious one...
Started the truck up in the am on Sat, about 12'F. Truck not plugged in overnight. Started just fine (5w40 syn), ran a little rough and blew a little smoke, but not excessive. Shut off the truck after a few min to load up the grandparents in the pax side (figured I'd save their lungs from getting dusted!), then fired back up. NO idle or run issues whatsoever, however:
1. Airbag dash light on
2. Fan (blower) doesnt work for climate control
Once the truck was warmed up, could feel heat thru the vents but still no fan. Figured I smoked a fuse somewhere and would check it out when I got home, but bummer to not have heat for 1.5hr drive with the grandparents in the back!
Then... about 45min down the road I notice that the airbag light has gone off. Give the fan a shot, works just dandy. Only other thing I noticed was some chirping possibly from the fan just before things came back to life.
I would have preferred to let the truck warm up a little longer before heading out, but the grandparents were in a hurry to get home.
Any ideas what caused that? Working now, but is there something I'll likely have to fix before the next cold snap?
Thanks!
Jim

Will it always come on when the fan is in the highest blower setting? I ask because in full speed the fan doesn't use the resistor pack, which control the slower speed voltages.
If you check the plug at the blower motor on the firewall PS of the engine and have voltage, but no fan operation, then you likely need a new motor or motor brushes if you wanted to replace those.

I had to replace blower motor this last summer for intermittent blower motor, then quit altogether. I read that other members were able to prolong their blower motors by tapping on them. I do not know why the ABS light would be on also, I did not have that. If you pull your motor the rubber tube will give you access to inspect the brushes on the motor. Also if you pull your blower motor inspect the AC evaporator for things plugging it, and clean it out with a vacuum cleaner.
