Raptor Expedition?

That's not the point. I'm not specifically calling out the Raptor. I'm saying trucks in general. When gas goes up to $4.00/gallon people tend to steer away from vehicles that require a lot of gas. So for a company to spend money and a few years developing a truck that will come onto the market just as gas hits $4/gallon is stupid.
If your biggest concern fuel mileage buy a car. People who drive trucks know they suck down the fuel. I wouldn't call ford stupid for coming out with a bada$$ truck like this. It fits a nich market that won't really care about mileage and even if they don't make money on this platform, it gives them a test bench to innovate new products that may someday make thier way to everyday trucks making them more reliable, more fuel efficient, and more capable overall.
I've been driving a car for the last 6 years and am so happy to be out of them and back into trucks. I'd rather spen $300 in fuel a month than drive my civic. However thats why I carpool now.
However if they'd ever put out a half ton diesel that would solve this problem.

You can't honestly sit there and say that people will go out in droves to purchase a truck when gas hit's $4/gallon. Especially since we already know what happened just a few years ago when gas went up. Truck sales plummeted and demand for fuel efficient cars went up.

I dunno. Part of what makes it work is the relatively light weight and simple design of the pickup body.
Imagine throwing an extra 800lbs of body and interior on, and trying to fit all those extra suspension components in around the mandatory third-row bench seat.
If ford does it, expect it to be a diluted package, with plenty of fancy paint and decals, but less good stuff under the hood to back it up.
Just sayin'

This is why Dodge never built an SUV w the Viper V10 engine. The added weight totally messed up the mpg which killed that SUV

Yeah. The f150.
they say that a Ranger is 90% of the size of a F150 and they get the same fuel milage. So they want you to go buy a F150. If i wanted a F150 i would of bought one. I wanted a ranger(midsize) and that is what i bought. If Ford is not going to make one, i will go buy a jap truck.
they say there is not enough sales to justify a ranger, so they are dropping it. It is the #7 truck in the US. #7!!!! out of full size, foreign, american, ALL TRUCKS, I think that aint bad I think they just want to up their pressious F-series sales cuz GM is not far behind the #1 selling vehicle(f-series)
