Well I could have voted either way.My 56 has roll pan front and rear with no bumpers. My 48 will have stainless bumpers front and rear tucked in.I like them both ways.I think when no bumpers the truck should sit pretty low.

I voted front/no rear but haven't yet decided what I'll do. I didn't have a rear bumper on the panel when I picked it up. I've made a roll pan with recessed licence plate and added backup lights for the rear, because of the frame swap I don't have any horns to install a front bumper to as we speak, was thinking of reshaping the holes to add running lights. I do like the looks of the chevy bumper in front and if I could find one just might go the route who knows, lol

I'm going with a front bumper(painted and I'll move up to chrome or SS later) and a roll pan for the rear. If I didn't mind butchering my new TCI frame, I'd probably forgo the front one.

My panel has no bumpers--I got it that way. Roll pan in the rear w/recessed plate area. The front has rubber covers over the frame ends. It sits way low--about 3-4 inches between the ground and running boards. I agree w/ Wayne S--low truck no bumpers. Stock height can go either way--but bumpers should be chrome or stainless.

Well, to give my answer, here is a picture of my front bumper below, I still have the stock fog lights and a set of WWII military tow hooks to go on it

For the rear bumper, I have some 6 in wide, 1/4 inch C-channel that i am going to fab up one just as tough.

oh and my bumpers will be semi-gloss black

The way I`m used to driving by ear it`s bumpers for sure and to me chrome or stainless steel bumpers are much nicer.

I'm surprised no one has brought up the safety aspect of having bumpers. I think they are very important and would not leave my driveway without one on both ends...regardless of looks!

I like trucks with or without bumpers, each to their own creativity. I was going for stainless front and back until I saw a truck with body colour painted bumpers at a meet and actually prefer the way it looks (and thats great as it'll save me a fair bit on cost).
I do like the snugger style brackets for the rear though.

You can do want you want it is your truck but I guess you are looking for advice. Since I am a stocker I like stock bumpers, painted black. When I bought my truck from my grandfather it did not have a rear bumper, so since I was fixing it up like when my grandfather bought it new I was not going to put a bumper on the rear, but someone gave me advice: a rear bumper will keep a small rear end collision from being a major body damage, bed, gate, rear fenders, etc. So I found a NOS bumper and put it on. And I am glad it did. It is a handy way to climb in the bed, using it as a step...

I like Black Bumpers and Running Boards. I like swaged black factory-looking hoses custom-fit. I like Ford Blue and Chevy Orange. I like steel brackets and I don't like billet anything if I can help it. And what I like doesn't matter at all......

As noted in another thread, the 51 - 52 bumpers are a ribbed design and IMO about twice as heavy as 48-50 or 53-on. In Ford ads of the time they touted how they were designed to provide additional strength to the frame -- like another crossmember. So there may be another reason to run them...

I always wanted to try the wooden push bumper like used on a push truck at the Bonneville flats or Saturday night at the local drag strip. I just need the right truck to do it.
