Replace the air merge motor?

My heat & A/C haven't been working right on my '97 XLT. I followed the troubleshoot tree and it looks like I need to replace the motor that merges outside with cabin air. I have the replacement motor and it is right on top of the duct below the glovebox. It looks tight in there, it has to raise up a couple inches before it'll come out. I'd like to know if I have to take the entire duct loose with blower etc, I don't want to start on what looks like a couple hour job and have to spend a full day.
Anybody else replaced it?
thanks, OJ

I've watched some youtube vids and none look promising. Are you sure its the motor and not the door broke? I think the motor is the easiest of the two. Be prepared to cut into the vent box or pull the whole dash.

Groan. Thanks for that. I haven't done it yet, I freed up a shop bay last night and might be able to get to it this week. I'll post an uodate.
