I drove the truck around today for the first time since loading the stock tune back in it. All i can say is........what a slouch this thing is w/o the 87 perf tune. I'm going to run a tank through it then load the 93 tune and see how it compares. Either way The 87 perf will be loaded back in for daily use.

I couldn't wait, after work I filled up. To and from work 7.5 miles each way 6 hwy speed of 62 I went up .45 mpg... Going for a longer run to our ABATE meeting tomorrow so have some hwy miles to check on it...
Sounds like the performance tune will be going in on Sunday... mpg isn't enough for the lower power and fast shifts...

Ok I filled up after just hwy miles, I went from 12.4 to 13.1555 Thats .7555 better on hwy...
My to and from work would be more like city miles since its 35 mph on gravel 1.5 miles, then 62 on hwy for about 6 miles, then uptown and back for dinner 1 mile in town... then 6 hwy and 1.5 gravel again.. that was 10.13 stock to 10.58 econo program that would be ..45 better for city...
Not a big difference, so I'm putting in the performance program to see what it does...

Guess I won't put the performance one in... I thought it had the "can" flashes in it along with the custom ones... My other two are for after I put Y pipe on... Guess I stay with the econo program till then...
Went in and did some tweaking, shifts more how I like, and bumped the timing up some... not much different than my power commander on the bike... just play till its how I want it without any big changes...

I installed mike's 5 star x3 into my 2004 V10 4x4 gear 3.73, 33" tires Excursion. I pull a 29' Wander wagon toy hauler. Loaded I am about 9000lbs. I asked mike to give me a 87 tow and 91 tow. I installed 87 tow what a big difference its like I am driving a different truck. I dont know if I am going to install 91 tow because I am so happy with 87 tow. I would recommend this product to any one that has a v10 & tows

Not meaning to threadjack, but I have a question.

My 2000 F250 CC SD came with an old Hypertech PP2 programmer. Anyone know how it will stack up? Haven't used it yet, not sure what i was waiting for. I would love to get a 5Star tuner as everyone seems to love it, but the Hypertech was free (can't argue with that).

I have experience with SCT and Diablosport canned tunes and are are known as some of the best tuners for Fords. The canned tunes on either tuner did not hold a candle to the 5 Star tunes. The Diablo tunes were the worst. I wouldn't even bother using your Hypertech, sell it for what you can get for it. You can use the money towards an X3 from 5 Star.

Yes because Mike can tune it for YOUR needs. Other tuners are a one size fits all which does not help you much.

I've had the 87 perf/tow on the truck since 60K miles and the truck has 234K now, towing 5,000-15,000k on and off.Transmission still feels good. Don't be lax on oil changes.

For the others asking about increase mpg, it's always hopeful that we can squeeze a little extra mpg, but don't buy a tune expecting better. The performance of the truck will increase some, the mpg not so much. As the BSEG grows the mileage goes down.
