Shameless Plug for a Friend of the Y Block

At least some of you are members of the "Y Blocks Forever" site,and are probably familiar with Tim McMaster,but still,I really feel it's a good idea to put forth great resources,especially for those of us who are only "middlin" when it comes to wrenching on vehicles.

Before I went to work in Iraq earlier this year,I chose him as THE person I wanted to build a motor for my '59 F250.My decision was based on a few things:His knowledge of Y's ,His integrity,Proximity,and the fact that he is the builder for Charlie Burns' 57 F100 that holds/held land speed records at Bonneville(UT),El Mirage(Ca.),and Maxton(N.C.)
By the way,Tim builds stock motors as well as race ones,and mine is essentially a stock-build.It is running like a sewing machine,and has all the power I'll ever need.I was aiming at adequate power and best fuel mileage as I drive my truck usually 60 or more miles per day on my work commute.I was saved by Tim from my own misunderstandings on more than a few occasions,and he was very patient with me,guiding me in making parts selections,sourcing those parts,etc..I can't recommend Tim enough.In addition,he,his wife,and Charlie Burns and his wife have become my friends through my little project.
So,if you're in the west-(or even if you're not,his motors are shipped to anywhere) and you want to have a trouble-free motor built for either your Driver or Race Vehicle,Tim McMaster is your best choice,in my opinion.Steve.

hi Steve, Can Tim do the full range of machining required or is some sent out to more specialized shops?

Hi,Mike.Tim works in a huge machine shop and does everything himself.At one time there were,I'd venture to guess up to ten machinists there.Now he runs the whole show.One of the perks of his job,is being able to do his own projects at will.When he gave me a tour of the place,I felt like a kid in a candy store.Though I'm not exactly a motor-head,I really wanted to "play" with all those toys.Sort of the Tim Taylor effect-all that Power!I know where I'd want to be hanging out on week-ends,if I could.If you go to his website,and follow his YouTube links,you'll be in for a few interesting hours of his work.Steve.
