Chroming 16" wheels

Has anyone chromed their original 16" rims? And would baby moon hubs still fit? Rims now have 7x 16's, anybody know how wide of tire or suggestion?

You will pay about $200-$300 per wheel to have them chromed. It would be cheaper to buy a new set of Baby Moons with the correct bolt pattern than chrome the old ones. Only issue would be hub caps. I doubt if the new wheels would fit the older hub caps.

Have not found 16" chrome 8 bolt or custom available, unless someone else has a source, I'm all ears. Mac's shows baby moom hubs for 250's . Thinking they must be deeper for back axle. Thinking now of powdercoating these rims, chrome hub, chrome trim ring.

Chroming is expensive, like Julie said. Powder coat is just as good looking IMHO. The stock dog dish hub caps are essentially a baby moon, except for having the Ford script on them. They should be available as repop's from most of the aftermarket vendors. I know Carpenter has them. The stock 1953 F-250 wheels were drop center 16" x 6" and would accept either a 6.50, 7.00, or 7.50 x 16" tire according to the Chassis Manual. Stu

thanks, now also looking at full dish hubs, trying to find out if they are deep enough to cover back axle hub.
