Winter Upgrades: Limited Slip, Intake Inlet and Gauges??
#16
I have been looking at the Detroit Locker for my truck:
Ford / Lincoln / Mercury F350 Rear Differentials Dana Spicer D80 Lockers Auto Parts: AIR LOCKER,ARB,SELECTABLE LOCKER,LOCKER,DANA 80,DIFFERENTIAL,SPICER 80,DETROIT,DETROIT LOCKER,LOCK RIGHT,LOCKRIGHT,POWERTRAX,DANA 70,SPICER 70,LIMITED SLIP,POSI,POSI
My truck from the factory with 3:73 gears and no posi-unit at all. When I give the truck 50% throttle the right rear duallies smoke. I cannot get the truck to hook up at all with the stock diff.
I got a guy local in my area recamends the DL and it will cost $2K for gears and the Locker.

WOW DUDE!! That's quite the link for diffs!
Thanks.
Just FYI, a fellow forum member contacted me offline and gave me a heck of a deal on a set of ARP head studs...so seems that may be my next move. Anything else I should do while I'm "in there"??
I'm thinking definitely close off the EGR system...but I'm not nor have I ever had any issues with it...I really am now!!
Any input on gauges?? That subject has probably been beat to death on here but what the heck, I like opening cans of worms!
Thanks.

Jeff-
Can't help you with the technical stuff but glad to see you got your rig back in shape.
If you have anything near 500HP you should take it on the track next time they do some parade laps. Just slap some Hoosiers on that bad boy and.....
You going to buy some land near VIR?
Just had a friend buy a farm about 20 minutes away and he's building a big shop building there with a lift etc...

That's actually what I'm looking for now in Pungo/Chesapeake, Va. - I'm finding a lot of 1-3 acre deals on ~$500-$600K houses in the 400s...one of them is for $399K on 3 acres and has a 30 x 40ft. square steel shop WITH a lift included!!! ...but it is a log built home and I just didn't warm up to it as I would a nice contemporary or Cape Code style out in the country. It had a HUGE attached garage as well 28ft. x 24ft - what a dream for space but the house I just couldn't fall in love with.
Yup, truck runs great now...even if it's not 500 FLYWHEEL HP. I did take the next step and purchased a set of ARP studs, got them today, opened up the box, impressive hardware indeed.
Now I need to get them installed or install them myself. Is there a trick to doing it with the cab on?
That's probably where I'll put my $$$$$$$ and time next...
