Id rather see you find a used Lincoln 225AC machine for about $150 or a used 225 AC/DC for about $250. Double those prices for new welders

 

Just don't have a 220v outlet yet. Will though when I build my shop.

or an electric stove? make an extension cord.

 

wire it straight into a coulple Extra breakers in your Panel box..... thats what i do when i need my stick welder...

9.ford.5........cool swap! I am finishing the same swap on a 1984 short step side. I have been chatting with Alpha/Omega about some of the SASs that he has completed and the mounting of the 78-79 radius arm brackets on the 1984 frame. Mine measured out identical to yours. My front horizontal hole on my 78-79 radius arm brackets came out to be 4 7/8" behind the rear bolt of the factory TTB (well mine was a two wheel drive to start with). Your brackets look like about the same exact measurement as mine. I think I will have to notch my transmission cross member to clear the rear vertical bolt on the radius arm bracket. Alpha and others have done this swap and use the factory TTB radius arm bolt hole as the front bolt hole for the 78-79 bracket. I don't see anyway on my project of being able to move radius arm brackets 4 7/8" forward. I am working with a rolling chassis with stock springs. After I set the drivetrain in and body on I plan on using the 4" lift 78-79 c aftermarket coil springs. Right now with stock 78-79 springs and unloaded I have a 116 3/4 " wheel base. I was just wondering if you have any clue as to why mine and your radius arm mounts are so much farther back than some others? I don't guess it really matters as long as the tire is centered (I can't be positive with a cab/fender but have to be pretty close using the center of the 1984 coil spring bucket...Thanks for your pictures and information!!
