Once you are beholden to Wall Street, you are pretty well done for. You can have best technical people in the world working on something, but once it is "cost optimized" for production, you get the nonsense like this thread is about.

Pretty much the only really innovative AND high quality work gets done in privately owned companies - Bose for example. They've done some interesting work in active vehicle suspensions, and I saw something in print (yeah, I'm old school some days) about a truck drivers seat they designed, been meaning to read up on that - next rainy day....

Turns out, most of the problem on my side door was just the anti-rattle coating on the latch.

After soaking with ReleaseAll, got it open. The vinyl coating on the door portion of the
latch was worn, and started to jam up into it's housing - there is lots of clearance on the top latch, but not much on the bottom one.

Ripped out as much of the broken vinyl coating as I could, got the hinges cleaned and
lubed, works pretty well now.

I may order some of the custom ferrules for the cables anyway, as it sounds as the OE ones are bio-degradeable.

My cheap and easy fix

This is a cheap and easy fix... once you get the cables out of the door that is
