If you use photobucket.com set up a free account and then download/import your photos to that site. then under the images it gives you the url's to link the image etc, select and copy and paste the " IMG" code in your message. hope that helps, here are a couple pictures of a really pretty 51 F-2

Carl - Either the 70720 or 73240 number works. Both are the same wheel as far I can tell. Just a number change. Also, I find a 1972 Budd record of a #86980 that is the same 17.5" x 5.25" width as the others, but the book says it uses a 90° nut rather than a 60° nut as used on the earlier numbers. Everything else looks the same. The #73240 is listed in the Budd catalogs through 1979, so it must have been a pretty commonly used wheel. I don't find any similar wheels in Kelsey Hayes or Firestone/Accuride catalogs. Stu

Originally mistook my request for dual wheels at 17.5, but I corrected him that I need singles. If I find them out here, I will have them shipped back East. Thanks for the tip.

I will be back in your area shortly after the new year. However, I am interested in your wheels if we can negotiate a price and a shipment method. Just to be sure, I need 17.5, 8 lug on 6.5" diameter. Are they in good condition?

Wheels for my F3
Bill and I have reached an agreement on his set of four wheels for my F3! I thank everyone on this thread for the advice. When they arrive after the long journey across country, I plan to clean them up and order a set of 17.5 X 8 tires from Universal Tire in TN. When the snow finally clears from in front of my tent garage, I hope to finish the restoration and be on the road by end of summer. Pictures will be posted soon.

Sounds like what I am running into. Brought home a 49 F3 from northern Mn a few years back, stripped her down to the frame sent the Engine to be checked and it was toast. Have done little work while trying to find a Flat head to put in, and finally did without paying an arm and a leg. So I started on the brakes the front went fine, rear are more interesting as one set of shoes is missing completely. The drums are fine. Now the wheels. Boy am I confused. The rear are widow makers, 8 bolt 4.75 in hub. Firestone tires 7.5 X 17. The front wheels are Orange, one piece 8 bolt 4.75 in hub Goodyear tires 8 X 19.5 (just came in from the lovely balmy central IA weather after checking them twice) So the short version I need a set of brake shoes with the anchor plate/bolts and hand brake arm, wheels to fit the rear, and as is common it sounds, a tailgate. The rest of the truck other than the bed is in real good shape. The bed I will worry about later, but doesn't sound easy either.

I have a pair of newly (at least 10 years ago or more) relined rear brake pads/shoes that were for a 52 F-2 12" drums. I'm not going to be using them. you can have them for the cost of shipping if they will work for you? But I seem to recall the drums are 14" in 48-50 or 51??? trucks then went to 12" ? wish I could remember half of what I've forgotten (i'm not even old yet) maybe a search here will turn up those older posts.
Tailgates? yea any decent original tailgate is hard to find! then the more rare Express bed gates even harder... I'm still trying to get ahold of a express box/trailer down the highway from me, If they decide to sell it to me?? I beleive CarlH is still looking for one too, Plus I talked to someone recently in Vegas who needs the 8' box and gate. Guess I need to go do some more truck hunting again!

Your wheel troubles aren't as bad as most because you've at least got those 19.5s. The first thing I'd do when the weather allows is to pull them off the front and put them on the back. They'll clear your 14" drums real well. Sounds like you know to get rid of your 17s. Finding another set of 19.5s to match might be difficult. They were an option into the 1960s on F-250s, as were 17.5s, but might not be easy to find in yards. To get you rolling, though, you can fit any 16" F-250 rim to the front without dragging on the drums.
Brake parts might take some detective work, but hopefully somebody offers you their spares. Many guys pull their stock Timken rear ends and swap in the Dana 60 out of a 67-72 F-250. There should be a lot of old split case Timkens sitting behind garages as a result. Unless the scrap prices of recent years cleared out the supply. If nobody speaks up, you might try Job Lot in NY, link - JobLot Automotive or Chuck Mantiglia at Chuck's Truck in CT. Link - Chucks Trucks LLC., Chuck's Trucks, Chucks Trucks. One or the other should have the pieces you need I'd think.
As for the tail gate, watch ebay, go to the big swap meets like Iola, Carlisle, etc, or buy parts trucks. You'll find it's hard to have just one. Stu

Welcome to this thread, Sland! I just joined this past fall and already have gained years worth of information from people willing to share what they know. I just got my flathead V8 back from the shop and am ready to install it in my newly repainted frame. However, it is about 20 degrees in my temporary garage here in MA and I will do indoor work until spring. Where in IA are you located? I grew up in Western Iowa, north of Sioux City.
