JohnSChisum, In the future, you may want to plan on replacing the timing gears in that 351M, they have plastic gears, and can break teeth or slip timing relativley easy when the plasitc gets old. reading this thread, I was thinking your timing may have been off because of that.

The very first time it sputtered and then backfired on the way home my initial thought was timing chain... worse case scenario. So I thought I was going to have to replace that about 2 hours after I bought her. I get together with my buddy with a welder next week I was just sketching out some ideas for a plow mount. I already put my amber light on and I am going to be searching the junkyards for a factory radio this weekend.

So yesterday my brakes went out, but thanks to this forum and my haynes manual I replaced rear brake lines, bleeder valves and my master cylinder with no problems and then my daughter helped me bleed'em.

I also noticed my F250 has what I have been reading as a "swiss cheese" frame. lol.

Went to the junkyard and picked up an ash tray and cig lighter. replaced the radio, but I am still missing one rear hubcap (dog bowl type) any ideas where to find one reasonable?.

Also does anyone know how hard it would be to replace my factory bench seat with buckets and center console from a 1982 Bronco? My brother-in-law has one sitting out in the woods and I am going to make it a donor.

It's been awhile since I posted, but here is where she is at. I had my snowplow put on her and low and behold 16 inches of snow later and several hours of plowing I parked in the driveway on an angle overnight. I went out to start her in the morning and nothing. I had all my buzzers, radio, but no fan, gas gauge or lights. Shift lever wouldn't move it felt like it wouldn't recognize the fact that the transmission was in drive or neutral (it did start and run next day when it got warmer, but cold the next day and back to no starting) so I think nuetral start switch or transmission related problem and without a heated garage it's time for a tow to a shop. Off to the tranny shop where low and behold tranny is great and it is determined to be electrical. Now it gets towed across the street to another shop. I should know more by thursday...

The first thing to come to mind is to jiggle the ignition key, turn it a bit towards
your body and see if that makes your electrical stuff come back.

I jiggled more than a bowlful of jelly. I've tried that. I tried holding it in park (pulling up on lever) I should also mention if I hadn't earlier when I press the cruise control on button the horn beeps, nothing else on the wheel works. Then while plowing (forward-reverse alot) the turn signals quit. We are starting to think it is in the wiring in the steering column. I hopefully will know more later.

Points set too narrow will do *what*?

Had you actually read the thread and understood what was most-recently said, you'd have seen it was started 3 years ago and is about a truck that came with an electronic ignition (no points)...

The last post was 3 months ago, telling us the link to the referenced resource had changed...

Yet, here you come out of the blue saying something apparently in reference to the problem written about 3 years ago...

Clearly, you're not reading what you're responding to... you've been on FTE for 13 years yet have only 1800 posts, giving you a posting average of 0.36 posts per day.... which means you periodically check in, surf around, throw around some words when you think they might help... why do you bother?

sheesh.... as we used to say in school.... busted...
