Hey Marty, you can go to any speedo shop and have a custome cable made for your stock speedo and new transmission that is the length you want or need it to be - for about $25! That will include a new driven gear.

The information in the Dennis Carpenters catalog lists the 3 sp speedo cable as 76 inches long and the 4 sp cable as 69 inches long for the F-1. Cable cost is listed as $20.

I ordered their 3 sp replacement cable for my 1952 F-1. It worked fine but not sure who figured out that the 76 inch length was correct! In my opinion, a length closer to 58 inches would have been a much cleaner installation as I have plenty of extra cable. In fact I have to tuck the extra length over by the battery box to keep it off the engine.

If I had a place to get a custom length cable made, I would take that approach but none is available in my local area.

Fred
