Welcome to FTE and the Big Bronco Forum. We will endeavor to get you the most accurate information we can muster.

The Inline Six Forum Here @ FTE along with the "FordSix" website and Clifford Performance could all be of some help to you.

Anything to help the engine breathe better is an improvement. The 300 responds well to a quality set of headers along with some intake improvements. The carburated units aren't as restricted on the intake side of things as the EFI version from the research I have done. There are a few different cams available that will wake them up a bit through the middle of the RPM range. (The 300 is a true truck engine in that most of its power is down in the low-mid RPM range which is good for pulling, hauling and getting a heavy truck moving off the line).

Have the head ported, and machined for bigger intake and exhaust valves. Install a performance camshaft, an Offenhauser "DP" intake manifold and a 450 4bbl Holley carb. The limit you'll reach on the stock head casting is about 350-375 hp, and that's with a lot of pro porting work. With some decent port work you can get up to 250-280hp, though. Keep the compression ratio 9.0:1-9.25:1 for street gas.

For the record, a 250hp 300 inline 6 will out perform a 250hp 302 V8.

One more question

Does anyone have pictures of a ported 300 I6? What are the key points to know when porting one?
