1988 F150 Running Rich and bad!

Ok, I re-timed the motor to 10 BTDC with the spout unhooked. It was off about 10 degrees before I re-set it. It made no difference in the way it's running. It still all but shuts off at idle. The idle still goes up and down, up and down and when it goes down it just about shuts off and then up again. I did drive it for about a mile and when I get on the gas it does improve a little. But has a big time lack of power.

Well I agree with Paul, if it where me I'd try a different computer.
IMO based on passed experiences taking it to ford is a complete waste of time.
They'll play with it for 3-4 days then return it with the same problems but include a bill to the tune of couple hundred bucks for their "time". Of course if they throw parts at it the bill will be higher.
I'd think 40-50 bucks for a good used computer from the bone yard would be money better spent at this point. If you decide to go that route be sure and take yours with you so they can get the numbers off it to match it up.

I do have a junk yard that will (I've been told by a freind) let me try a used computer and if it works I pay for it. If not I can return it. I don't want to take it to a dealer so I will try the computer. But, if that don't work I will have no other option. I need to figure this out asap.
