What Are You Doing To Your Truck?

That's bright!!!
On another note somethings up with my overhead center console again. Awhile ago the screen on the Lie-o-meter would be a little finicky and I'd tap it and it'd be alright, along with the rear right window/vent not opening. Now the overhead console is not lighted again (no tapping will do the trick like before) and now both rear windows don't open.....what's goin on?
Also what would the average cost be to redo the gears, from stock 3.73's to I was thinking 4.56? The X has a D50 front and a 10.5 rear, correct?

Your Ex should should have a D60 up front. They used D50s in SRW and D60s in DRW up to 2001 and in 2002 they used D60s in both SRW and DRW to save on inventory costs.

Regear is AT LEAST $2000, very easily more. 4.56 is a very low gear, be sure you want that before doing it. Its not something you want to redo.

Reading a lot in the Excursion forum, I highly doubt I have a D60, think that was only for trucks

Ehh darn, that's a lot. I do definitely need different gears cuz there is no get-up-and-go when slamming on the gas. Theres a bad hesitation and has made for some sketchy freeway entrances. What would you think is a good gear? Mostly street/highway we tow though our heavy toybox, and it's got (almost) 34's.

Its possible you have a D50, just strange.

My opinion is, don't bother changing from 3.73 to 4.10. You won't notice enough difference, and the money you spent will feel wasted. If you tow with those big tires, 4.56 would be great. A good compromise would be 4.30. Run one of the online calculators and see what RPM you would end up with at 75mph, then decide. You can even test it by downshifting and driving at various speeds to see what those revs will feel like.

You are correct. They are 7 inch pro comp explorer 130. They came with the bumper. So for about $50 I got HID lighting.

Possible Engine & Trans Swap
Hey Y'all;
Been laid up w/ some health issues for a tick.
The C-4 made a Clunk, a series Screeching Noises & doesn't want to move.
The engine is going through oil & a few times a day it makes rattling sounds as if something has broken & is pouncing about inside. Oil rings? This after JMS got her running again from the broken distributor bending push rods & valves when the engine backfired.
And thank'ee again to those that popped over to try to help me figure out what was wrong w/ the "Wee Beastie".
My only option, because I'm dead broke, is to reinstall the original 223 & auto trans I had built as a back up that's in storage. I'll need help in order to accomplish this, so if anyone has the time, Nancy & I can supply food & beverages for y'all.
I can use my recently deceased Fathers collapsible engine hoist to get everything out of storage & back to the house. I might have the use of a friends truck to accomplish this as he's going out of town for a tick.
Please send me an email via the site, thank'ee!

Just removed and cleaned the driver's side intercooler tube and boots. The outside of the tube's foil wrap and boots were caked with oil residue. The inside of the tube was very clean. The boots had some oil in them but not too much as compared to the passenger side which I cleaned several months ago.
The problem I had with the boots was that they appeared to be thinned (perhaps due to age). I also had trouble keeping the boot down on the tube - it seemed to crawl up as I tightened down on the clamp.
Since I had to remove the first tube from the air box to the turbo, I noticed a slight trace of oil on the inside of the connector that goes from the airbox to the tube. Can't figure out how oil can get there (so close to the back side of the air filter). I also broke another air box clip. Given that the filter now needs to be changed, I wonder if now is the time to upgrade to the 6637 or some other choice air filter. I'm running stock (with a few mods) so I'm not sure I need to spend a lot of money.
