Radiator support rods

Can anyone give me some guidence on how to adjust my radiator support rods that run from the firewall to the front edge of the front fenders? Almost up and drivable after many years of work. Thanks in advance for any help you can give. 1955 Ford Panel

I think it's just a matter of loosening the two locking nuts in the front and tightening in the right direction.
