On the hinges...I hope the springs were off...if you try to close hood as recieved from powdercoater...you will ruin the hood and/or hinge/s...a friend of mine had his done on his GM F body...almost ruined the hood...pulled hinge and twisted to break the coating...they will be alot stiffer then original...

Alright so it's a year later and im cruisin to get this thing done. I'm getting married this time next year and the future wife says it has to be the "wedding get away truck" so here i am at the grind again. Got the core support sandblasted ($40) and bedlined ($100). Drilled a hole for the core support in the frame where i made my patch. bolted the fenders on. got the upper valence on. installed the rock gaurd. got most of my switches where i personally want them. (deleting washer sprayers for a smooth hood) cables ran. steering coulumb in place. door hinges and pedal assembly sandblasted (30) and bed lined (50). basically got the front end back together and almost ready to wire up the entire truck without a painless wiring kit. wrote up my own diagrams with some help from the DC wiring book. (added my custom stuff to the diagrams) Center consol fabricated at my uncles Grind shop. soon to recieve it. mounted the racing seats. windshield in. polyurethane body mounts. basically the works. im focusing on the cab and front end. everything on that part of the truck im redoing first. im worrying about the bed stuff later. so it will look kinda like a beautiful beasy up front and a crap heap from the back for now. but enough babbling heres the good stuff over the past two days working 14 hour shifts on it.

new alt. 140 amp one wire

putting on drivers fender

Fiance Cleaning

Little blurry sorry guys

trying to get nuts on the back side of the upper valence where it bolts to the core support. accidentally installed the radiator. woops. zero room to work. sucked.

I bought the totally stainless bolt kit. comes with most things but i had to reuse a lot of stuff to make the kit work. its nice not havening to but the bolts serately but it bugged me that the kit wasnt "complete" to my expectations.

Grill on. will be replaced with a DC one in the future tho. maybe a couple months down the line.

After all that guess where i broke a bolt at? stupid bed lining people got it in the treads and it bound up. i was doing the tighten back off techqnic but it obviously didnt work. this was no fun.

Pedal assembly Bed lined (20).

this is how the new cab started. 80 miles from home and red.
heres a pic of what the interior originaly looked like in my truck on the original cab.

Grandpa would have been proud if he were here.

Im telling you this turd was getting into everything! well thats it until next saturday or sunday! tell me your honest opinions please!

Looks great! Tho I would have painted the engine to make it look just as fresh as the truck. Got anymore pics of the bed and stuff? and congrats on getting married.

I was planning on ordering a totally stainless bolt kit too, but was worried about it being "complete" with EVERYTHING needed!...can you fill us in on what was missing?

Looks good man.. Congrats on the wedding too! Good luck and I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. I just got married a little over a year ago and can't be happier.

I'm interested in the bolt kit as well. Please update us and let us know if it is worth it. Again, good looking truck and good job on it.

Great work, Wyatt! I really like the LineX treatment on the radiator support. I think I am going to look into that route with my radiator support, inner fenders, back side of the fenders, and maybe the firewall...hmmmm! Keep it up!

Well I got the bolt kit off ebay and its from the original manufacturer. the only reason why i got it from ebay was because it had free shipping and thier web site didn't. I got the indented hex kit. comes in several bolt designs. hex, indented hex, allan head, couple others. all in all it was way better then buying the bolts seprately but its dumb how they set it up. each section of bots is in its own baggie. the interior stuff is labled bolt by bolt. but things i ran into was things like. the bench seat kit had 4 bolts when you need 8. you get one door hinge kit to mount one door hinge not all of them. I had to admit that the frot fender bag was complete and so was the inner fender and sore support bag. but the odds and ends weren't had to reuse a lot of old rusty nuts. but i positioned them so you cant see them and shot them with a little paint. you dont get bolts to mount the battery tray, all in all im still happy i bought it even though the manufacturer didn't do thier homwwork on it.

as for the bed lining. my restoration/modifications has mostly been a battle with rust. my old core support was basically gone at the bottom and was eating the frame where i showed you guys. so its basically donw so my kids dont have the same battle when i do have kids. and im focusing on the engine another day i know it may not look like it but it has a old but fresh rebuild on it. my grandpa did it last. so i kinda want to drive it a little like that before i rip the motor apart. and i'll take pics of the bed next week.

Also before i drive it i need to put new brake lines in it. when i did the front end swap in high school i flared my own lines and its tacky. also you guys will think this is cool. I put in a trailer brake control module at work on a 2006 f-550 and it had to have the master cylinder replaced because the original wasn't drilled for a pressure transducer. so i got the old one. looks like it will fit a 70's style booster i have. and this master cylinder wont rust!!! i will have a adjustable proportioning valv for the rear brakes tho to turn down the pressure a little bit cause its drums in the back and the cylinder is made for discs.

Makes me misty eyed thinking of my 65. It looks awesome. What size engine? Looks like a 352 judging from the oil filler location but it could be almost any FE.

I would love to see some whole truck pics. Nice color too. What is the coating on the front support behind the grill ( where the radiator mounts )?

I like that look. Maybe I will do it on my 72 if it isn't too expensive.

The THUNDERBIRD valve covers were used on 1961/64 Galaxies & Thunderbirds with 390's.

If the covers were marked FORD = 1961/64 Galaxie 352 / MERCURY = 1961/64 390 / No markings = 1962/64 406/427.

All 1958/76 FE engines look basically the same, with one exception. 1958/64's have an oil fill tube, no holes in the rounded valve covers for oil caps/smog valve.

1965/76's have pent roofed shaped valve covers with holes for oil caps/smog valve, there is no engine oil fill tube.

FE's installed in 1965/76 F100/350's: The oil filter adapter is different...the filter mounts horizontal, it mounts vertical on passenger cars.

Its a 390 out of a 64 thunderbird. I think number dummy has told everyone before at one point that this engine definatly didnt come with this truck. good catch! and as for the core support its bedlined from line x

Thanks Wyatt. I realized after I asked that you said it earlier. Sorry, I don't like to waste others time usually so my bad. It really looks awesome. I think I'm going to do the same thing. Line X? Is that a company or a local place you went to? I'm not familiar with any of the bedliner applicators.

That is going to be a gorgeous 66 when you are done. 65-66 are my favorite years. So much character to the body style. It's funny, when I bought my 65 back in 1986 a buddy of mine had a 72 Camper Special / Sport custom that I always coveted. Now I have a 72 CS / SC that is from Nevada. Actually, if you go into the galleries section of this site and type in 72 for the year and go to page 7 it is the root beer brown one from Spark Nevada that a Alan Gross posted. I can'y say I like the color but the truck is in outstanding shape.

I plan on doing all the rust inhibitor stuff to the frame and sheet metal, installing stainless steel brake lines and DOT 5 brake fluid over the winter. Basically redoing the whole brake system. Then do all the prep work to get it painted in the spring. Debating on color(s) still but I'm leaning towards two tone dark green and pearl white. Green above the bump and white below with a white cab top. Either that or a solid green.

I was actually leaning to a green when i was deciding too. i love the dark blue i got but sometimes i think about what it would look like if it was a solid hunter green color. good luck man.
