Hub change and I found this. Plus a ?

While pulling everything apart to change my ball joints, I disassembled the passnger side and all was good. But when I took apart the drivers side I was greeted by this.

Missing parts! It seems that the last time I had someone fix my ball joints they forgot to put in all of the washers. They also installed the washer that has the four groves in it backwards.

This is what should have been inside when I took it apart.

WTF!

It seems that there is some metal shavings on the drivers side hub that I removed.

So I actually have three questions. First does anyone have the part numbers for these washers?

Should I replace my hubs now due to the possibilty of damage?

The final question is, is there an easier way to remove your axle shafts or do I just need to be patient pry them out?

Thanks.

Try the our FTE Parts Guy for the stuff you need.

I would replace the hub.

Be patient. It will come out. Try this link for a few tricks. Scroll down to Axle Removal.

You may have gotten lucky and it is just shavings from the plastice hex shaped washer. Those hub selectors are pricey too even from Ed. Over $200ea. I would look at Guzzle's writeup on those and try to clean that up.

a pry bar prying out on the back side of the u-joint, on the longer stub of the axle, usually pops them right out. I just replaced my hubs because like that, i put the large 4-tab washer on the hub locker side of the hub, and not on the knuckle side where it should have been, and i found a pile of shavings when i went to do my gears!

When I did mine, the shavings were from the mangled knuckle seal. I thought I was pretty fortunate.

There is nothing in the hub that the shavings will tear up. Just pull the hub apart, clean the trash out and re-grease and it should be fine.

The 3 small washers will come in one kit and the large grooved thrush washer in another. Ed, FTE Parts Guy can fix you up on both, sorry that I don't have part numbers.

I tried that and it is just being a beeyotch. I think I need a longer pry bar. As for the shavings, you are lucky that you found it when you did.

Cool, I will tear it apart and check it out. Do not worry about the part numbers, if Ed can get them then I will be in good hands.

Thanks to all for your help. It is going to be a while before I can finish this up. I do not have a garage and it is raining again.

After reviewing this I have come to the conclusion that the only way you are going to get the inner washers and spacers is to purchase the hub assy 1C3Z3B396CB

looks like the 1B093 and the 3B458 is all I can get. :-(

the 1K104 and 1K105 kits are only serviced in the 3B396 hub assy.

Ed,
The parts that Matt is needing are not part of the autolock hubs. They all slip over the stub axle and fit inside of the bearing hub.

I see your diagram of the exploded autolock hub but not one of the bearing hub and associated parts/washers/spacers.

then the F81Z3B458AA & D8TZ1B093A are the washer for the stub shaft, 4C3Z1K106AA kit has two orings and a large retainer ring.

F81Z4A322AA is the yellow oring

Ford does not give me a exploded view of the 1104 hub assy.

I think you can replace the inner roller needle brg in the hub with C6TZ3123A

I'll continue to look and see if I can come up with a better pic of hub.

here is a picture from Dana's web site, but they dont list part numbers either?????

so i'm thinking now, you have to buy the hub assy F81Z1104BH as this is the only way Ford services it.
