Sony system is one of the best if not the best system I have heard from a stock system. I am the type that would normally change the head unit ASAP, but that will not be happening. It hits nice lows and crisp highs. My neighbor came over, another Ford guy, and all he could do is call me a lucky *******.

I am going to convert a friend of mine from Chevy to Ford when he comes back into town.

Well, here she is without the 4x4 stickers and the reflectors removed. I wish they had them in chrome also as I think that would also look cool.

And to prove that she can fit into the garage.

The Backflip HD is coming in on Monday and I should have it installed on Tuesday.

Nice ride. Beautiful color when clean. Which usually last about 30 min. before stuff starts to cling to it. My 01 was black. Never again for a daily driver. I got tennis elbow from washing the thing. Wore out my California duster too

HA, I said the same thing after my wife's old Mustang. After looking at one in white and black, I found the white too bland. I also had a silver F-150, so I wanted something new and different.

I use Meguires NXT quick detailer. takes me about 10 minutes to get her shiny. Keeping mt rides clean is my hobby (which my wifes does not understand) and I do not mind the work.

What's a Good Deal for Platinum F-150

To Aztrainer: saw your posts and that's a nice black Platinum. Question, I went to a dealership in North Carolina and the MSRP was $49+. They had an ad for 40% off MSRP and I was ready to buy for 32k but the truck was sold when I went back. Do you know of any other great deals out there? Thanks.

No, That is the problem is that when you get a deal offer like the one that you had you need to jump on it. I would say with the arrival of the 2010's now the dealerships will be looking at getting the 2009's off the lot. I just ordered a 2010 Mustang GT from my dealer from my wife and I asked a lot of questions about inventory. Ford has a new program and allotment to what a dealership can order per week off of past orders. I got the only mustang allocation for the dealer for the week. He also stated that they now will only hold inventory for 30 day supply and not a 60 day supply. With this dealer he stated they went from having 700 - 800 vehicles on the lot down to 400.

Use the internet and e-mail what you are looking for to the internet managers of the dealerships in your area. Be flexible with what you want, but state the must haves in your e-mail. Don't worry about the color as I got hung up on it and did not look at the bigger picture. Go out to a distance that you are comfortable with and make them talk numbers. If they are unwilling to talk number they are unwilling to earn your business. I have the advantage of having about 10 dealers within a 50 miles range and I bought mine from one that is 22 miles away. I have five dealerships that are closer, but they were not willing to deal.

I hope that this helps, good luck.

Thanks for the advice

Aztrainer: thanks for your suggestions. You're right; I should have moved on that offer when it was made. I live in Pennsylvania and travel frequently to North Carolina. Oh well, maybe it wasn't meant for me this time, but, that Platinum is one great looking and comfortable vehicle. Continue to enjoy yours.

Thats the problem. These are TRUCKS not luxury cars. There is a reason that these fluff trucks and SUV's have the hightest profit margin.

OR it could be both as I have used this truck in the same manner as my old F-150 XLT. As I get older I enjoy a more refined vehicle as well as ride. I agree if you mean that there are people that make their vehicles so garish that the only dirt they will see is in the street, I would agree. This is my truck and my choice of level of trim is what I wanted. I started driving truck on a farm with the bench seat and the broken spring poking you in the neater regions.

As for Profit margin, that would be true on any high end item. The more bells and whistles the more it will cost as well as the more it will be worth in five to ten years if taken care of.

Or you get somebody like me who buys a high trim level too, but I don't forget that it's still a truck. That's not to say though that I am not extremly careful with it either...

I too "pulled the trigger". I haven't bought a new truck since 1985, had itthat Ford until 2000. I had a 1992 F150 XLT SC 8' box (started out life as the family car) since 95... traded it for the 09. Took advantage of the $$ for clunkers, I know I wouldn't have pulled the trigger w/o the $4500.

Searched a week & finally found what I wanted, Royal Red, 8'box, 3V,V-8 & Trailer towing pkg, plus a bunch of other stuff to drive it to just over $25K sticker, $18K + the 92 out the door

Really glad I ended up with the F150, the Sierra & Silverado don't have any room behind the seat and an 8' box is extremely rare here in Mich.

At one dealer the sales girl asked "How long you want this truck for?" (I think she thought I was gonna lease it)

My reply was .....I had my '85 for 15 years, I gave it to my son, that 92 out there is 17 years old, if it wasn't for the $4500 I'd keep it 5-10 more years, Honey I'm over 50, I figure this 09 is taking me all the way to the grave, BTW if the deals right I'll be writing a check.

Great for you and I can totally relate to the comment about how long do you want this truck. My 1999 was clean and in better condition than many 05's. I was in the financing office, I hate that when you are paying cash, and he was trying hard to get me to buy paint protection....Stated all of the, "well it is black" and "we live in really harsh conditions". I called my salesman in and asked if he thinks I should get it and all he did was laugh. He then looked at the financing guy and said , "No, he knows how to take care of his vehicles."

I don't know about other people, but everyone that has ridden or sat in my truck now says, "Dang this is nice," or "Wow, I want one." The best so far was from my die-hard Bow-tie boss, "I wanted a Cadillac Escalade, but I am now going to get one of these are they are better and nicer."
