Question Slight howl in the front of my engine 5.4

I just developed a slight howl in the front of my engine whichis a 5.4 in an 03 f250. All stock. Sounds like maybe a pully/bearing.. An suggestions would greatly help in diagnosing this asap.thanx

Have you checked the fan clutch? If the fan is locked, it will be spinning at all times and possibly sound different than you're used to. Maybe it's the PS pump, it could be time to flush the PS fluid or replace the pump.

Checking the fan clutch and flushing the PS fluid are pretty cheap. Plus it doesn't hurt to do this from time to time.

And welcome.

Pull the belt off, start the truck for 10-20 seconds and see if the howl is gone. If it is, it's something belt-related

I'd bet it's the idler or tensioner pulley.
