Do it once, do it right. Had stage 1's... Love them. Had stage 2's... Loved them.

Have hybrids... wounder why I wasted all the money on stage 1's and stage 2's...

O.K. I am a dummy when it comes to this stuff. What is PRM? Are'nt Forged rods better? Why would earlier models have em and not later models if Forged rods are better? Just curious because when I bought my truck I was told I have an early 99 which means no forged rods. I am not a engine builder as you have probbably guessed but plan on keeping my truck, even if it means rebuilding the motor later on down the road. Thnaks Dan

Early 99 all have Forged rods, and yes they are better.

Your Early 99 has Forged rods, a good thing for anything over 400hp. Ford changed to PMR's (powdered metal rods) in 2001, they are a bit lighter, and suposed to make the motor smoother. Who knows but. There is nothing wrong with a PMR when it is designed that way from the get go. All 6.0's come with PMR's and will handle 500-550hp fine. But the PMR's in the 7.3 were made using the same sizing and shape as the stronger Forged ones...

I ran the hybrids with nothing more then a drop in turbo... No issues. Get the hybrids if you can and tune for your mods. The size of an injector does not make it have to empty every time it fires. You can have a 300hp truck or a 600hp truck without changing anything but the tuning.

Very good point if you can swing it and plan to go bigger one day anyway.
