I have a really bad oil leak come from my fuel pump. According to the manul it is comeing from the rocker arm pin. Does anybody know if there is a fix for this? Sorry for the bad pic i'll get a close up tonight.

is it coming out thru the gasket or the actual pump? If its thru either i'd say just replace it. the pump couldn't cost more than $40 and the gasket would come with a new pump. but if its just a gasket stop at NAPA on your way home.

For oil to be coming out by the fuel pump arm pin it would have to be extremely worn, it is more likely cause by excessive crankcase pressure, a build up of oil vapor, which has to vent somewhere. New engines use a PCV valve and vacuum off the engine to suck these fumes away and burn them, some older engines had a downdraft tube that got rid of the vapor. Either your engine is not venting correctly or something (that you do not want to know about) is causing pressure inside the oil pan.

But......."being wrong sure keeps me humble"

Is it also leaking around the base of the distributor? If so, I think OldF1 is right.

It's only leaking from that pin hole, not the gasket. I will have to check the base of the distributor tonight. I first noticed it after I replaced the valve cover gasket and reseated the breather (it never sealed correctly). So I think Old F1 is on to something. Could I have sealed things to well for this old engine? And Is this the down draft tube you are talking about? Because if it is I think it is clogged. I put my finger up there and felt some sort of waxy blockage.

by the looks of your picture you have a crushed down tube??? That will surley be an area I'd look into...Take a coat hanger and clean out the blockage...then try and open up the crushed part...If not, it needs replaced...good luck

Usually a pin hole AKA weep hole is put there to leak when pumps internal seals fail causing a drip. I would replace the pump and look further into that tube because like he said allot of back pressure could kill a engine.

Well hopefully I ordered the right one. The distributer said it is for a 54 f100 223 and in the picture it looks the same. I'll have to keep my fingers crossed.

Last night I took off the downdraft pipe and cleaned it out. There was tons of what looked like crystalized oil or maybe bits of road tar. It was nasty what ever it was. But no oil leak from the bottom of the distributor,
