Adding/Repairing front seat cushion

Searched and found nothing. Truck is listed in my sig.

Front seats in the truck are the 40/20/40, I believe. The one with the center fold-down console. Driver's seat cushion is worn out. I sit about a 1/4" to 1/2" too low for comfort in the butt portion of the seat. The forward thigh area seems alright. Seat cover is in good shape.

Is there any way I can add foam under the seat cover to make up for the current worn foam? I was thinking of getting a sheet of foam and just cutting it to match the curves of the seat and sticking that under the cover. Not sure if that would work all that well, or not. Are there certain types of foam best for this kind of application?

All advice is greatly appreciated.

Figured I'd update with some info since I fixed this issue over the summer. I ended up pulling the driver's seat out of the truck. Found that the foam cushion is glued to the seat cover portion. However, it is possible to add padding below the factory seat foam. What I did was bought a sheet of 2" thick white cushion from Wal-mart. Something like $8 bucks. Can't remember the exact dimensions, but it fit PERFECT without any trimming. It was in the crafts department. The label stated that it was for all uses like RV's and boats. Resists mold and mildew.

I placed the new padding on the seat cross wires and put the original padding and seat cover over the top. Hook the factory seat cover hooks on the frame and it's like a new seat. I should mention, I had to completely disassemble the front seat to accomplish this. Seat back and lumbar controls had to be removed from the seat bottom.

You read my mind! My '92 F350 driver side seat cushion is completely squashed. The PO must have been a frequent visitor to the corn dog stand at Walmart. Now I have some first hand experience for how to fix the "hole" in the seat cushion.

I had the same problem in my 96. Except I paid an upholstery guy to rebuild the foam and make it a bit firmer. It turned out pretty good. My truck at the time had 98k. The seat cover is in excellent shape.
