Ford 370 2v

Hey i just bought a dump truck with a 370 2v it ran alright on the trip home but when i got back it wasnt running half as good as before i pulled all the plugs and one of them was fouled out real bad with oil. Any ideas what might be causing this? Are these motors easy to work on? How much would it cost to rebuild. Any info on the engine would be greatly appreciated.

It's just as easy and just as expensive to rebuild as any standard V8 only harder to work on due to the height of the truck.

I would suspect bad or broken rings if your plug(s) are fouled, or really worn valve guides.

A compression test will tell you a lot. Do all 8 cylinders and see if any are way lower than others and start from there.

the 370 is in the same family as the 429 and 460 so almost all parts are interchangable. You need a big truck crank though, they are specific to a F600,700,800
