my guess would be ALOT more than that! the hub/rotor assembly is at least 40lbs perside. every time i see one for sale theyre being lifted by fork lifts or engine cranes, if they were light they wouldnt do that.
maybe I just got more muscles than they do (or less brains!).
My buddy and I picked up my current one (out of an 80's truck) and put it in the bed of his pickup. When I'm by myself around here I usually use a cherry picker now
I'm leaning towards the 450/500 lbs...A buddy of mine had an HP 44 from a Half ton weighed and it came in about 360 lbs...Those D60's are pretty darn big...But I'd really like a very close or true weight if anyone has one...
The deciding factors are the amount of oil it has in it, the thickness of the rotors, and how much brake pad it has left.
This is a very accurate weight..............
Another intersting tid bit. The center section by itself weighs in at 116 lbs. Thats loaded with a ring and pinion bu the thing is heavy all by itself.
I weighed the one on the orange truck when I had Dynatrac build the thing.
You have no idea how long I have been waiting for a thread like this to pop up. Like a little kid waiting for Santa. I have remembered this stupid stuff and have never found the perfect time to share. Well here it is.....
Axle tube to center section fit is .007"
Chebby front axle is heavier than the Ford. They use more fasteners for the spindles than the Ford, and have a thicker rotor. These weigh in at slightly over 500 lbs for a single rear wheel.
Thats about all I can remember. Long night last night....................
