Help !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

hey guy's and gals . i'm usually hiding over on the 48-60 truck forum praising my flatty powered 53 . well i'm no dummy butt ....... i recently got a deal on a running 1995 thunderbird lx , with the 4.6 in it . paid 200 bucks for it and it starts and runs .... kinda . i was under the impression ya could just throw a battery in it and drive it for a bit and it'd relearn . now i got an old wise sage / friend of mine , saying there is some sort of procedure to starting it / relearning after it's sat for awhile with no battery . so does anyone know if this is so and what the hades is it ...... it'll start run { blow the rear tires off easily } but has a huge dead spot in acceleration off idle , and stumbles at times at idle . it's just a beater to get me by till i get my 53 up again , but for no more than i got in it i'd like to play a little bit and see what it might do

There is not any special relearn procedure. You just need to drive the car on the highway and through some stop and go traffic and it will relearn by itself. If it still runs poorly, you may have another problem, ie dirty injectors, old fuel, bad MAF sensor, etc. Sometimes if they have been sitting awhile you need to run some injector cleaner through and blow the cobs out of 'em just like the old cars with carbs.

ok doke so we'll make her legal and run her a bit with some fresh fuel and i was gonna clean the injectors with some cleaner either / or in the tank or at the fuel rails . would put some pics up there 56 but already did on the usual forum and i cant repost 'em here ...... cat converter has some rust in the bottom though but not any holes yet , and i've done this before with other makes , but thinking about pitching it and putting pipe in it to replace it . will it mess with the pcm or ??????????????????????????? gonna go out to a freinds place , i.e. mech genius , and he's gonna look at it and try and see if it's got some bad sensors . already tried to " blow " the cobs out , albeit just breifly . kinda flattened the left rear though . it seemed to suffer from an extreme lack of traction and was spinning both wheels hard enough to make quite an impression on the neighbours ... then i wonder why they think i'm losing it ...........

My niece's 94 4.6L Cougar had a dead spot and it turned out to be a bad MAF sensor.
I would put plugs in it first.

hmmm another option to look at . i forgot about the obvious too like fuel filter !!! got a whole lot to check but i'd swear this is in the electronics we shall see , can anyone tell me if the parts from mustangs and pi vics are interchangeable with the birds ?????? know where theres a pi vic sitting , a 96 with a popped motor , and from the 92 i had i know theres no leashes on the 'putor ..... also it would seem that the gt stang ignition modules and such might offer a performance increase cheap as they're fairly common in the bone yards , that is if they offer a different set of parameters ... i dunno . it's easier to play with the old stuff , not so much thinkin' ! makes my head hurt !! LOL !!!!!!!!!!!
