Hi

Sorry for being so lame. I haven't been on this website in a while. Anyway here I am. I've been to the monson 4x4 hill climbs before. They are a riot. Rain or shine, it will be fun. I'm not available to do a GTG until after 5/15, since I'm working in Virginia. But looking forward to attending one.

The racing was great. Aaron drove Ray's Jeep and brought home second in the modified class. I took video off all of it so I will post up some links tomorrow. The rain managed to hold off until the racing was done but not before they were able to open up the top of the hill. Some of us stayed (wet and all) until after the rain and watched the remainder of the festivities so I have film of that too.

I wasn't on the road 5 minutes afterwards when it started raining again, but this time it started coming down so hard you couldn't see 5 feet in front of you. Add to that spurts of hail the size of pencil erasers and I was a little worried (for my truck more than anything else). Managed to get home in one piece and the truck didn't appear to have any damage, but I'll give it another once over tomorrow in the daylight. Check back tomorrow for the files. I have a hard drive camcorder so I only need to download the files and zip them up (1.15GB uncompressed). I can mail anyone a DVD if they want, just PM me.

i have some video, and james has some as well, will post it all up tomorrow (or seeing as its 1:00, today?)

Greg and Dave- sorry james and i thought you guys ditched with 90% of the crowd when the huge rain came down.....we were at the food hut and when we were done eating our hot dogs (and watching the wet white shirts run to the parking lot....) we made a run for it and headed home. i didnt think they were going to do the over the top, wish i had stayed! short visit set aside, it was nice to see you guys again!

RAY- THAT WAS AWESOME! i cant thank you enough for the opportunity

the rest of you clowns MISSED OUT BIG TIME!

Thumbs up Monson Race Videos

So here ya go. I ripped them to H.264 and dropped the overall size from 1.15GB to 206MB. Should make things a little easier to view. Also, if anyone wants the original mpg files all zipped up, just let me know and I can supply a link.

Apparently the Experimantal A class was short a few vehicles, so Ray volunteered Aaron to race in that class as well. His is the white Jeep #126:

Experimental A Race 1 (8.3mb)
Experimental A Race 2 (6.2mb)

On to the stock classes where a couple of trucks caught my eye:

Cummins Turbo #1 (4.0mb)
Cummins Turbo #2 (9.4mb)

80 something F250 #1 (5.4mb)
80 something F250 #2 (6.4mb)

Onto the modified class where Aaron gets to race again:

Modified #1 (7.9mb)
Modified #2 (9.8mb)
Modified #3 (7.5mb)

Then someone had the bright idea to try racing snow mobiles against trucks:

Sled vs Truck #1 (1.8mb)
Sled vs Truck #2 (7.0mb)

This is about when the rain kicked in. Two thirds of the crowd left but for those that remained, they saved the "Over the Top" racing. For those of you that have never seen this before, there is a second hill at the top of the first one, and not only is it steeper, but it is also extremely loose sand. Its what most people come to watch:

Over the Top #1 (9.0mb)
Over the Top #2 (12.7mb)
Over the Top #3 (6.3mb)
Over the Top #4 (13.7mb)
Over the Top #5 (5.7mb)
Over the Top #6 (9.2mb)
Over the Top #7 (9.9mb)
Over the Top #8 (11.9mb)
Over the Top #9 (7.7mb)
Over the Top #10 (9.2mb)
Over the Top #11 (8.2mb)
Over the Top #12 (9.9mb)
Over the Top #13 (8.4mb)
Over the Top #14 (8.4mb)
Over the Top #15 (6.2mb)

For those of you adventurous enough to download them all at once:

All Monson Videos Zipped Together (210mb)

If there are any issues just let me know.

Hi Greg,
I tried to view the video through Windows Media Player and I hear sound, but no video. Any thought as to why this might be?
