2000 F150 XLT 5.4L 112,000
Have removed both heads due to coolant leaking into #1 combustion chamber. Upon tearing it down noticed slop is back side of D.S. timing chain. Could get my finger in between chain and guide (Not the tensioner side). Could not do this on the P.S. Have been told this is because of timing position. Has any one else witnessed this.
Also pictures of timed 4.6 motor on modulardepot seem to indicate when my motor was disassembled it was one tooth off. Have pictures of my tear down but cant seem to post them.
Sending Heads out to be pressure tested and milled. Will also have shop put inserts in all 8 plug holes. It has 112,000. Any thoughts on if I should get valve job and seals. I have owned this truck since new and she has always been well taken care of but money is a big issue right now so if I dont have to buy chains and get valve work great, but if I do than I will. 1 more ? for now, In all the kits I have priced out cam gears are not included, is this because they are pressed on? have always been of the mind set if you replace chain all gears should be replaced to. Any thoughts. Have done many searches and lots of reading but any help or advice is always appreciated. Thanks and this site ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!

 

if it were me i would replace all parts sence i was already in there. it bets having to go back in later.

 

yea replacing all the wear items this time will save time and money in the future.
