Up-pipe leak repair

I have leaks at the donut gaskets on the up-pipes. Talked to Clay yesterday. I can't spend the money on the bellowed up-pipes. I know that would be the way to go, but I can't.
I have read somewhere about using Chevy donuts. About using never-seize in the donuts and tightening the ends slowly while twisting the pipes slowly to make sure they seat properly.
Anyone tired either or both, any suggestions? Get the donuts from IH, Ford?
Thanks in advance.

IIRC Beans have a brass set of donut that is supposed to seal very well.

The anti-seize will cost you more than the donuts. Stop by your local parts store and ask for Fel-Pro #8194. They're a couple of dollars each. If you plan on pulling the turbo, don't forget the o-rings for the pedestal.

Thanks, Megawatt, I'll look into them.
F350-6, I have the never-seize, What are the Fel-pro 8194 for?
I have talked to Clay to get turbo rebuild kit, and o-rings. Waiting on a quote from him.

They're the small block donuts. The kids at the parts counter can't find a part unless you give them the make and model of a vehicle, so that's the part number you need. Now you don't have to watch their eyes glaze over when you describe what you want.

I have the SBC Fel-pro donuts (thanks Ron) and turbo O-rings (thanks Chris) waiting to be installed. Now I just need to figure out if I'm gonna stick w/ the stock turbo or change it for something else before I pull it...

It will be a lot easer to change with the turbo out. Is there a reason you are going to rebuild the turbo?

Yeah I wouldn't even attempt this without taking out the turbo. But if he is rebuilding, it will be out anyway.

I also have to change the up-pipes but I think I really want to do it with the turbo in place due to the fact that I have a Banks Brake installed as well and it is a real pain getting it all out of there. I was told that you can take the inner fender liners out and gain access. Has anyone done it that way and was it successful. Also can someone post a link the the bellowed up pipes as I have never heard of them. Thanks.

I agree. I was wondering why he needs his turbo rebuilt.

Some reading for you..............https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/8...for-cheap.html

Contact Riffraff Performance in that thread and he will set you up. I got mine from him.

I too have a Banks brake on my truck, I didn't install it though. It made it a little more tough to take out, but not much. The exhaust band clamp is just a little further down ( I guess you already know this though) and we had to turn the brake on to open the actuator to slide the clamp off. Other than that, it just makes the turbo heavier.

Thanks that is an interesting thread. I will email and check on the bellowed pipes and hopefully won't have to remove the turbo but like you said not the end of the world.
