1990 F150, bucking and jerking on highway

A friend of mine has a 1990 F-150. 302, 5 speed that cranks OK, but doesn't want to idle. You can feather the gas to keep it running, but when you get on the highway, it bucks and jerks especially on climbing hills. You can let off the gas and it will get better until you try to speed up again. Truck has over 100,000 miles on it and has 4x4. I am thinking test the fuel pressure and start there. Any suggestions? Fuel injected.

No, don't think so. No check engine light on, even when it's jerking. How would one pull codes with no check engine light? Could you give more info?

on my 95 truck if the engine light comes on once the computer stores the codes. You can check by going to autozone if you have one nearby they pull codes for free or a shop with a reader but usually will charge ya

I'll second that. Replace the fuel filter.

they check engine light doesnt come on, you have to jump it with the EEC/IV and pull the codes, i bet it will throw code 33 and 32.. try replacing your catalytic converters, if it were you fuel system there wouldnt be a time were your not sluggish except for idling
