The frames are different. I switched my 69 F250 4x4 over by using a 2wd gear box. I welded a plate on the inside of the frame and a tab to the top so all 3 bolts hold it in. The 2wd box brings the pitman arm lower the the 79 F250 4x4 box but skyjacker makes a droped arm for it. The 79 arm is longer so you can turn sharper. I'am puting a 79 arm on my 2wd box. I have don this to several trucks and it holds up good. JMHO
