C6 Leaking near inspection plate
Hoping someone can point me in the right direction.
I am leaking transmission fluid on my '76 F250. It has a 390 with a C6 and the leak appears to be coming from near the inspection plate.
The truck shifts very well with no other apparent issues. It did sit for a while before I purchased it, so maybe that has something to do with it. Hoping there might be something simple that I can do to slow/stop the leak. Anybody out there with a tip or two?
Thanks.

If it's the front seal (the one that seals on the TC which is much more common then the Oring since the oring almost never has an issue unless you have recently removed the pump) then buy the front pump bushing too since it's most likely worn causing just enough movement that it took out the seal. you can replace just the seal and 4 out of 5 times it will fix it for a year or more but if it doesn't you are tearing it apart again to do the seal and the bushing so save yourself the headache. (espeically since that bushing isn't much) and then buy the PUmp oring too.

Long time reader, first time poster. These forums are excellent, really, hopefully I can contribute with some photos or something soon. I am currently working on a 76 F350 Super Camper Special with a 460 and C6 trans. and I have done a lot of work on it over the last 6 months.
Regarding the C6 leak, I have the same problem. What do you estimate as the time to do the work suggested by NumberDummy & monsterbaby? Does the transmission need to be pulled or is all of the work done from under the trans? I plan on tackling it this weekend.
Thanks and FTE is awesome.
