whats the temp rating on regular auto paint? I know a guy that says he painted his engine with regular paint and its fine. I looked at it and it does look good. Not sure how long its been on there but its ok now. What do you guys think?

 

Personally, i would use a high temp paint, which I did. That will ensure zero flaking which tends to happen...

 

If by "regular paint" you mean automotive paint for body panels (professional stuff, like DuPont acrylic), yep, it works fine. Nothing will stay long on anything that gets really hot like exhaust, or the heads near the exhaust ports, but the parts that just get "normally" hot are fine with it.

 

Yep, It'll work fine, just make sure you use hardener in it....should prolly use primer too. Oh, and the parts have to be REALLY clean, or it won't stick....been there T/M

 

yeah, it is the same paint that we used on my truck, and i do plan on primering and clearing it also. Thanks for the info....
