Oil temp or Oil pressure?

I have purchased an Auto Meter Transmission Temp Gauge

and I am looking to pair it with another gauge. Which would you get; Oil temperature or oil pressure?

They are going in this;

I'm not sure of which gauge to get but where did you get that gauge mount?

You're correct Cliff. I'm thinking that I might use the mount as a mold master and make a carbon fiber copy to match the panels in the truck and the gauges themselves. What I don't understand is that there has been >50 views of this thread but only 6 votes have been made. Come on people let me know what you would get.

oil pressure if I really have to pick one. already got a oil temp on the dash

personnally I recommend you look into the Ford Racing guage. It has a multitude of displays, and would look pretty good in there.

btw, that is the Saleen/Harley gauge pod

I would go with the oil pressure. But how difficult is it to install and where would you connect the gauages to?

Definitely oil pressure. The stock pressure gauge is an idiot light with a needle. This is because the stock sender is a go/no go type sender that says anything over 4 PSI is good. That is why the oil needle never varies its position when the engine is at different RPMs.

I plan to place a "Tee" in the port for the current Oil Sending Unit and add the sensor for the Auto Meter to it.
The trany sender will either go into the inspection port on the trany itself or into a "Tee" in the output line to the cooler.

what color are those gauges at night when lit up?

I've got the Autometer Cobalt gauges and the blue gets somewhat annoying. I've been considering taking them apart and soldering green LED into them

They come with white light incandescent bulbs. There are bulb covers in 4 colors Amber, Blue, Red & Green. There is also LED replacements for the lamps in the same colors. When using the LEDs' there is a need for the lighting dimmer, Autometer #9114, Here; pmtdiesel.com - Autometer 9114 LED Lighted Gauge Dimmers The 9114 allows you to dim the gauges separately from the rest of the dash illumination.

Go with the oil pressure, the life blood of the engine. That mount is sweet, wouldn't mind one either.

Temp is important. Pressure is MUCH more so! High oil temps will almost always translate to high coolant temps, which can be seen with a gauge.

Low pressure will eat your engine in seconds.

Trany gauge and mount arrived today. I'm working on getting the pressure gauge. I'll have to paint the bezels of the gauges black as the silver just doesn't look right in this situation.

I sure will Cliff. It's going to be a couple of weeks yet before I get to the install stage. When I do I'll be opening a new thread for just the installation. I have yet to decide just where I'm going to buy the oil pressure gauge from. It will be the Autometer carbon fiber.
