Converting Stock Turbo to Van Turbo with 1.15 AR

Hey guys, I was wondering if this 1.15 exh housing will work with the stock turbo or will it require a different exh turbine wheel to work? Here is the link: www shopdiesel.com/_e/loc/product/700213-0005/Garrett_1_15_Non_Wastegated_Exhaust_Housing.htm I also know i need the exhaust flange to mate the down pipe. Any help would be appreciated.

You can use the stock wheel. Most go to an ATS housing or a WW.

The van turbo comes with a 1.15 ex. housing.

Here you go. Beans Diesel Performance - 99-03 Power Stroke 1.15 A/R Unwastegated Turbine Housing w/ Adapter (Powered by CubeCart)

Also, read this thread. I think we went into incredibly too much depth but it's a great read.

I read through the thread but I didnt find any info on how big the intake side of the van turbo compressor housing is Vs. the stock compressor housing? Also I couldnt find if the van turbos are ball bearing but i am guessing they are cartridge type. 3rd I would like to know if the pedestal is the same as the non ebpv pedestal you can get from ron's store? That link to the housing on beans site is for a ball bearing turbo and I still have the stock one.

I thought the van and truck turbos were similar on the intake side just the turbine allowed it to take better to the abuse of higher boost.

I'm still learning too.

we. Most go with a WW or ATS housing to fight surge. Van turbo is just stock truck turbo minus waste gate and adding 1.15 A/r exhiast housing. Still driving... Sorry

Thanks andrew for the quick replies. That is good enough info for me. I read the entire thread on van turbo`s also and I got a lot from the great people on this site. I should be getting my housing also soon. I ordered a 1.15 housing and a rebuild kit along with a non ebpv pedestal. I am using stock sticks and tow a bumper pull toy hauler 30ft keystone raptor. I hope this works out for me. I know it should be a little laggy so i hope i am not sorry for getting this insted of the 1.00 housing.

I think a dp tuner could be set to acount for the 1.15 housing and it would run great! I'll find out one of these days haha. Good luck!!

I thought that's what the van turbo is, bigger turbine and housing. I don't think they'd use the same trim turbine on the van. Doesn't make cense.

DP does have tunes for the van turbo. I think he said he gets rid of a little initial fuel but lets it all out after a bit to take advantage of it.

I think what was said in the van turbo thread was that a little more fuel is added early on to get it spooling faster to make up for the lag. I dont have time to re read the van turbo thread again, sorry. Also I have gotten mixed replies on what size the exhaust turbine is from the stock turbo Vs. the Van turbo so I am still trying to get solid proof that they are the same.

I cannot verify what the compressor wheel is in the van turbo. But I know everyone runs ww or ats housing instead of the regular wheel

Stock is .84A/R if I remember right. Van in 1.15a/r and some ppl run a 1.0a/r as a happy medium. Van turbo 1.15a/r is recommended for heavy towing for it's ability to help keep low egts. With proper tuning I'm sure it will blow a stock turbo away. That's why they are so hard to find.

When i said turbine i meant the exhaust housing side and size of the turbine wheel not the intake side of the compressor housing and size of the compressor wheel. I just want to know what the exhaust turbine wheel size is on the Van Turbo Vs. the stock turbo`s? Hope I made sense this time.

my mistake. From all my research on the van turbo conversion. It is just the exhaust housing that is different.

In my mind by having a larger housing it can move more air. Aka stay cooler
