Haha, thanks! Yep, it's just metal, but at one point so was the rust that I'm cutting out and trying to replace

I only had an hour or two to work on the panel today, mainly just grinded down the welds. Still have a bit more finishing on the underside of the "curved" area near the flange, but for the most part that section is done, just a skim of body filler to finish it off later. Still have a few more similar spots along that edge I have to do the same thing to though.

you mean the small piece of rocker panel I welded in. It's a rocker panel patch panel from LMC that I cut up to use. I don't need a complete rocker just a couple of smaller areas so i'm using that panel for "parts" so to speak...

Did those panels have an indentation for the 56 just before the door post?

Man I gotta say that is looking great to me. I have no idea how to weld, but if you are a beginner and that is how far you have come, then you are doing great. I hope I can get that comfortable with welding once I get to the cab repair on my project.

Thanks man, that means a lot! I'm far from being an expert at welding, very, very far, haha.

Got a few more hours in on the cab yesterday. Cut out another lower rusted out section next to the last one I just did.
rusty piece

bent another patch piece and started tacking away

getting there

still need to trim the flange to match, and grind and fill a little more. After this section is done I'm going to start in on the rear passengre side cab corner.

So I began tearing into the passenger side rear cab corner this weekend. I was anxious to see what the inner looked like. I had ordered both outer and inner corner patch panels since I new the inner was bad, just didn't know how bad. Anyway, part of the floor section that has the flange that the innder is spot welded to was toast. Very rusted out and there was no way I was going to be able to work around it, so I cut it out and fabbed up my own patch panel out of some 16 gauge sheet metal.

Here it is halfway welded in. I ran out of time and will finish it up next weekend. It's very strong.

Once that's buttoned up I need to repair the last four or five inches of the rocker panel, then the inner corner can get fit up and welded in.

Thanks for the compliments guys, i appreciate it! I'm pretty happy how everything is coming out so far, it's not really all that hard, sort of like Legos!

Your well on your way to a completed cab, nice work. You should start a gallery now that you have the knack of posting pictures you'll be a help to others starting on thier projects. Your no longer a newbie and others will be calling on you soon, keep up the good work my friend.
